Humanities-Based Writing Fellowship for Undergraduates

I created the University Writing Race & Ethnicity "Writing Collective Fellowship" in Spring 2025 as a small but intentional effort to serve the broad Columbia University community. I saw a need for more structured, humanities-based learning environments that could support undergraduate students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds— in developing their writing and research skills. By extending the University Writing internship, this fellowship offers returning students the chance to mentor first-year writers, contribute to curriculum development, and foster a collaborative classroom culture.

At its core, the program reflects my commitment to service through equity-driven pedagogy, community-building, and the creation of spaces where students can learn from one another with care and purpose.

"As a fellow, returning to this space was inspiring. The students’ insights were sharp, and their questions pushed me to reflect on my own growth and writing process. It felt empowering to witness their development and be part of such a thoughtful learning environment."
